Boost Your Career Trajectory with The Certified Performance Improvement Facilitator Training and Certification

Develop your competency and demonstrate your proficiency in using systematic processes to guide systemic, collaborative improvement across groups and organizations. The Performance Improvement Facilitator Learning & Performance Journey provides an Performance-based learning experience while connecting learners with peers across sectors for mutual benefit.


ISPI and the Institute for Performance Improvement are collaborating to provide the first comprehensive development program and project-based certification for facilitation of the critical work of performance improvement.
Applications are accepted twice annually for this fully-virtual series that spans five months. The rigor is similar to a high-level graduate class with an embedded project, in which participants apply their learning and tools to an improvement project of their choice that requires collaboration. Applicants also participate in interviews to determine their experience has created readiness for this elite experience. Access the application at:

Learning with Peers


Synchronous learning in class is aligned with asynchronous peer-to-peer learning and coaching via the Promote digital platform. Participants report the rich peer interaction to be a highly valuable aspect of the experience, as well as the opportunity to immediately apply their learning to meeting their goals. Apply Your Learning to Guiding an Improvement Project and Earn Certification CPIF


  1. Enroll and select a “Big Rock”, a project that will require you to facilitate collaborative improvement or innovation.
  2. Progress through the course series, applying your learning and tools to the project, with coaching.
  3. Submit your work as assignments, getting feedback from your peers and instructors.
  4. Network with your peers, sharing knowledge and assets.
  5. Complete the work/assignments and earn the Certified Performance Improvement credential and digital badge awarded by ISPI and The Institute for Performance Improvement.

July 21, 2021 – The Institute for Performance Improvement and the International Society for Performance Improvement are recognizing the first professionals to earn the Certified Performance Improvement Facilitator™ credentials. Certification requires completing a development program and a project-based certification. The development program The Performance Improvement Facilitator Learning & Performance Journey™ provides proven tools and processes to guide collaborative improvement. The certification proves participants can guide complex improvement efforts across groups and organizations.

Dr. Judith Hale, CPT and Deb Page, CPT researched the practices of effective performance improvement facilitators and codified and validated the ten standards of effective Performance Improvement Facilitator practice. These practices and dozens of proven tools are embedded in the Performance Improvement Specialist Field Guide, provided to all participants as an e-book as the key text for the series.
