Building Capacity and Support for Continuous School Improvement in West Virginia in Historic Times

Today, more than ever, school improvement is a complex, systemic challenge. Amid a global pandemic, student learning losses, teacher shortages, mental and social-emotional impacts, and other systemic factors, the work of improving school and student performance is a priority for every school, not just those labeled as CSI, TSI and Promise schools. Historic levels of funding are accessible through the Education Stabilization Fund through the Coronavirus Aid Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act for the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER Fund). Effective use of those funds for the right local solutions creates the need for building capacity and support for those who lead and guide school improvement and re-invention.

The Institute for Performance Improvement recognizes that collaboration and capacity building are key to finding and implementing the types of solutions needed for these complex challenges.
